VAUT LE DÉTOUR MuCEM

MuCEM

The Museum of Civilizations of Europe and the Mediterranean (Mucem) is a national museum in Marseille, inaugurated by President François Hollande on June 7, 2013, when the city held the prestigious title of European Capital of Culture. French architect Rudy Ricciotti designed the striking structure. A museum of society at its core, Mucem is devoted to the cultural anthropology of European and Mediterranean societies. At its inception, the museum inherited the collections of the National Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, which had permanently shuttered its doors.
