VAUT LE DÉTOUR Pont du Gard

Pont du Gard

Pont du Gard is a three-tiered bridge designed to carry a Roman aqueduct. Located at Vers-Pont-du-Gard near Remoulins, not far from Uzès and Nîmes in the Gard department, it spans the Gardon river. Likely built during the first half of the 1st century under the Roman Empire, it sustained the Roman aqueduct that conveyed water from Uzès to Nîmes.
